The shepherds, the animals and the accessories can be dated back to the the second half of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century. The scenes were designed and made by Cuciniello, Fausto Niccolini, an architect, Luigi Masi, a theatre director, and  Luigi Farina.

The crib (the structure) is made up of several scenes. The Nativity is set among the ruins of a destroyed temple that represents the end of the antique world and the coming of the Christianity. A crowd, characterized by several clothes, features and works,  animates the scene and represents Neapolitan people's activities and ambitions.
